Kebijakan Retraksi, Penarikan, dan Koreksi
We understand that authors have worked meticulously in preparing their manuscripts, and we have also conducted a thorough peer-review process. However, sometimes published articles may potentially need to be retracted or even removed for scientific reasons. This action must not be taken lightly and can only occur under exceptional circumstances. Therefore, steps such as corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies, when necessary, will be carried out with strict standards to maintain trust in the authority of our electronic archives. Our commitment and policy are to safeguard the integrity and completeness of the scholarly archive, which is essential for archival researchers and librarians.
RETRACTION
Manuscripts published in Jurnal Sains dan Kesehatan will be considered for retraction from publication if:
-
There is strong evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of academic misconduct (e.g., data fabrication) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation or experimental error).
-
The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission, or justification (cases of redundant or duplicate publication).
-
The manuscript is proven to constitute plagiarism.
-
The manuscript reports unethical research.
To ensure that retractions are handled according to publication best practices and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) retraction guidelines, Jurnal Sains dan Kesehatan adopts the following procedure:
-
An article that potentially requires retraction is reported to the Editor-in-Chief. Reports regarding the article may come from internal parties (editors/reviewers) or external parties (readers).
-
Based on COPE flowcharts, the Editor-in-Chief must follow step-by-step guidelines (including evaluating responses from the article's authors).
-
The final decision on whether to retract is then communicated to the authors and, if necessary, to other relevant authorities, such as the authors' affiliated institution.
-
The retraction statement is then published online and included in the next available issue of the journal.
Please note that although authors hold the copyright to an article, they do not automatically have the right to retract it post-publication. The integrity of the published scientific record is paramount, and COPE retraction guidelines remain applicable in such cases.
WITHDRAWAL
Authors are permitted to withdraw accepted articles, provided that the article has not been formally published as scheduled and the DOI has not been activated. If the authors request a manuscript withdrawal, an official letter signed by all authors and the head of the first author's institution must be sent to the Editor-in-Chief. No fees are charged for this withdrawal process.
However, if the article has been published as scheduled and the DOI is active, the withdrawal process can no longer be executed. Authors must submit a request for retraction if they still wish to remove the article. When an article is withdrawn, its PDF and XML files will be removed and replaced with PDF and XML documents simply stating that the article has been withdrawn according to Journal Policy. The document will also include a link to the most current version of the policy document.
CORRECTION
Jurnal Sains dan Kesehatan will consider publishing a correction if:
-
A small portion of an otherwise reliable publication reports flawed or misleading data, especially if this is the result of an honest error.
-
The Author list is inaccurate (e.g., an eligible contributor was omitted, or someone who does not meet the authorship criteria was included).
Corrections to peer-reviewed content are classified into one of the following three categories:
-
Publisher Correction (Erratum): To notify readers of a significant error made by journal staff (usually a production error) that negatively impacts the publication record, the scientific integrity of the article, or the reputation of the authors or the journal.
-
Author Correction (Corrigendum): To notify readers of a significant error made by the authors that negatively impacts the publication record, the scientific integrity of the article, or the reputation of the authors or the journal.
-
Addendum: An addition to the article by its authors to explain inconsistencies, expand upon the existing work, or simply clarify or update information in the main manuscript.
The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to decide whether a correction should be published, sometimes based on advice from reviewers or editorial board members. The Editor-in-Charge will contact the authors of the paper in question for clarification, but the final decision on whether a correction is necessary and which type of correction will be issued rests entirely with the Editor-in-Chief. Once approved by all parties, the correction statement will be published online and featured in the next available issue of the journal.
EDITORIAL NOTE
A notification to readers via an Editorial Note may be required if there are unresolved indications of a problem with an article. For example, if Jurnal Sains dan Kesehatan becomes aware of alleged research or publication misconduct, or if there is a severe dispute among the authors or between the authors and a third party, such an editorial note may be published. Generally, an Editorial Note will be published while further investigations are conducted and until a more permanent solution is found (such as publishing a "corrected" revised version or a Retraction).
EXPRESSION OF CONCERN
If there are significant concerns regarding an article, but no concrete evidence is found to firmly warrant a retraction, Jurnal Sains dan Kesehatan may—under exceptional circumstances—choose to publish an Expression of Concern linked to the problematic article. This may be applied if:
-
There is ambiguous (inconclusive) evidence regarding alleged research or publication misconduct.
-
There is evidence that the article is problematic, but the authors' institution is unwilling to investigate the matter.
-
An investigation into the alleged misconduct has proven to be unfair or inconclusive.
