Abstract

Hipertiroidisme adalah kondisi peningkatan hormon tiroid yang menimbulkan gejala seperti jantung berdebar, tremor, dan kecemasan. Propranolol, β -blocker yang sering digunakan secara off-label , dapat meredakan gejala adrenergik serta sedikit mempengaruhi konversi T4 menjadi T3. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan karakteristik dan membandingkan hasil terapi pasien hipertiroidisme yang menggunakan dan tidak menggunakan propranolol di RSUD Kudungga Sangatta Utara. Penelitian retrospektif ini melibatkan 87 pasien, namun hanya 73 data yang dianalisis, terdiri dari 40 pasien pengguna propranolol dan 33 non-pengguna. Analisis menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney dan t-independen menunjukkan propranolol secara signifikan menurunkan denyut nadi (p = 0,002), tetapi tidak mempengaruhi kadar FT4 (p = 0,311). Mayoritas pasien pengguna propranolol berusia dewasa awal dan perempuan. Thiamazole 10 mg menjadi dosis paling umum pada kelompok propranolol, sementara dosis 5 mg lebih banyak pada kelompok non-propranolol. Kesimpulannya, propranolol efektif meredakan gejala adrenergik tanpa mempengaruhi kadar FT4.
