Abstract

Tanaman talas (Colocasia esculenta L.) suku Araceae adalah salah satu tanaman yang banyak tumbuh di Indonesia, dan banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai salah satu bahan pangan. Di beberapa negara tanaman ini sudah lama dimanfaatkan untuk pengobatan tradisional. Hingga saat ini belum ditemukan ulasan tanaman talas yang mencakup tentang biologi, kandungan kimia dan khasiatnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengulas tanaman talas (C. esculenta L.) dari segi farmakognosi, fitokimia dan khasiat farmakologi. Penelitian disusun berdasarkan jurnal yang berhasil dikumpulkan baik jurnal nasional maupun internasional. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa di Indonesia tumbuh berbagai jenis talas. Dalam batang, daun dan umbi terdapat berbagai senyawa kimia, tergantung pada daerah penanaman. Talas memiliki aktivitas sebagai antioksidan (katagori sedang), antimikroba, antibakteri.
