Abstract

National feed security is a crucial pillar in maintaining the stability of the poultry industry, yet Indonesia still faces significant risks due to high dependency on imported raw materials such as corn and soybean meal. This study aims to analyze the impact of feed import dependency on national health security through a One Health approach. Fluctuations in global feed prices not only threaten the economic viability of farmers but also trigger price instability for animal protein sources in the domestic market. This condition directly correlates with public nutritional accessibility, where surges in protein food prices can hinder efforts to reduce stunting and malnutrition rates. Furthermore, reliance on global supply chains poses challenges in monitoring feed safety standards, potentially carrying risks of chemical residues or zoonotic disease transmission. The study findings indicate that feed self-sufficiency based on local raw materials is urgently needed to ensure the availability of affordable, safe, and high-quality poultry protein. By strengthening feed sovereignty, the government indirectly fortifies public health resilience through stable nutritional fulfillment and biological risk control within the food chain.
