Abstract

Rumput rawa Echinochloa polystachya berpotensi menjadi sumber pakan hijauan berkelanjutan untuk mendukung ketahanan pakan sapi potong di wilayah tropis basah. Kajian dilakukan pada April-Juli 2025 di Kota Samarinda dengan memadukan analisis kualitatif melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD) berbasis Participatory Rural Appraisal bersama peternak dan pemangku kepentingan, serta analisis kuantitatif berupa pengukuran biomassa dan uji laboratorium kandungan nutrisi. Hasil pemetaan SWOT menempatkan E. polystachya pada kuadran agresif (Kuadran I), menunjukkan bahwa kekuatan dan peluang lebih dominan dibanding kelemahan serta ancaman. Kekuatan utama meliputi palatabilitas tinggi, pertumbuhan cepat, kemampuan adaptasi di lahan basah, serta kemudahan perawatan dan panen. Kelemahan mencakup umur simpan singkat, tajamnya daun, sifat mudah terbakar saat kering, dan keterbatasan ketersediaan lahan. Peluang terbuka melalui ketersediaan rumput yang melimpah, potensi pasar yang luas, dan dukungan pemanfaatan lahan rawa, sementara ancaman berasal dari risiko banjir dan lonjakan permintaan musiman. Produksi rata-rata mencapai 342,06 ton/ha/tahun atau 31,3 ton bahan kering dengan nilai ekonomi Rp146,6 juta/ha/tahun. Analisis proksimat menunjukkan kandungan bahan kering 9,15%, protein kasar 11,08%, serat kasar 33,83%, lemak kasar 3,06%, dan abu 4,62%, sesuai dengan kebutuhan pakan ruminansia. Temuan tersebut menegaskan posisi E. polystachya sebagai sumber hijauan strategis yang mampu mendukung produktivitas sapi potong, meningkatkan pendapatan peternak, serta memperkuat ketahanan pakan.
